Job Summary

The Intensive Therapeutic Care Caseworker provides high-quality casework services to young people in Intensive Therapeutic Care with a focus on effective case planning, implementation, and review.

This involves an interactive case management approach emphasizing ongoing analysis, decision-making, and record-keeping to ensure the young person's needs are identified and met.

The ITC Caseworker works closely with the ITC team to provide a wholistic therapeutic response supporting young people to heal from trauma and achieve their full potential.

Therapeutic casework services are provided within a trauma-informed framework addressing presenting issues, developing new skills and perspectives, and promoting positive behavioral outcomes.

A permanent full-time opportunity is available in our PSP Intensive Therapeutic Care (ITC)

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement comprehensive case plans that prioritize the needs of young people;
  • Provide high-quality casework services including assessment, case planning, and intervention to support young people and their families;
  • Work collaboratively with the ITC team to deliver a coordinated therapeutic response to meet the complex needs of young people;
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments and develop strategies to minimize risk and promote safety;
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of case work activities and interventions.
Selection Criteria
  • Bachelor degree in social work, youth work, or a relevant field;
  • Experience working with young people with complex trauma and understanding of adolescent development, trauma, attachment, and resilience theory;
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in casework practice preferably in OOHC or child protection; and the ability to achieve positive outcomes for vulnerable young people and their families.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values and an awareness of the current issues faced by Aboriginal children, young people, and their families.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Postgraduate qualification in social work or a related field;
  • Experience working in therapeutic residential care settings.
