Job Title: Radio and Electronic Support Specialists

We are seeking skilled professionals to join our team in providing operational support and technical advice for the acquisition, development, deployment, installation, and maintenance of systems for use in Mobile Radio and fixed site communications equipment.

About the Role:

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity for individuals with strong understanding of technologies (Radio Frequencies and Communications) to contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct, and the AFP Governance Instruments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Providing operational support and technical advice;
  • Maintenance of the mission critical AFP radio network;
  • Management of the national radio system using technologies including P25 and WAVE;
  • Support the uplift of radio and communications capability through enterprise program management activities;
  • Support and provide advice on the planning and implementation of telecommunications devices, networks, and systems;
  • Issue and return of radios (controlled items) for BAU and special operations;
  • Support and assist the AFP in commercial discussions with vendors;
  • Support to operational vehicles and electronic items;
  • Assist in the design and implementation of radios systems in Pacific islands;
  • Assist in training of Pacific island technicians.
Essential Requirements:
  • A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one;
  • Certificate 3 (or equivalent/higher) in Electronics and Communications;
  • Strong understanding of technologies (Radio Frequencies and Communications);
  • Extensive experience and expertise in Information Technology, Radio Engineering or closely related field;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills at the relevant level;
  • Demonstrated ability to work proactively with other members from all skill levels.
