About the Role

The Housing Chaplain is a key member of the team providing holistic care and support to residents and staff within a housing context. This role is responsible for delivering a range of key objectives, including:

  • Developing and implementing a holistic pastoral care program;
  • Nurturing a Jesus-centered spirituality among residents and staff;
  • Building a healthy community through sound community development practices;
  • Collaborating with volunteers to enhance care services.

As a Chaplain, you will be a member of the Church and Community Engagement team of Churches of Christ, supporting activities aligned with the strategic direction of the organization and consistent with its mission and values.

About You

We are seeking a candidate who is active in their Christian faith and has a demonstrated competence in holistic pastoral care. You will be a team player with excellent communication skills, able to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and faiths. You will also be a caring and positive role model, with proven leadership and management skills to deliver outcomes and inspire teams.

Your qualifications and experience for this role should include:

  • Ability to be endorsed as a Ministering Person with Churches of Christ;
  • Certificate IV in Pastoral Care, Chaplaincy, or Christian Ministry, or relevant equivalent qualification;
  • Current Driver's license and willingness to travel periodically;
  • Demonstrated experience in providing pastoral care, chaplaincy services, or community development at an advanced level;
  • Demonstrated ability to function as a servant leader who values all people, including the marginalized;
  • Demonstrated ability to model a missional lifestyle and communicate Christian beliefs and convictions within the Australian context.
