Immerse yourself in a dynamic and supportive environment as a Grade 2 Social Worker, providing expert care to outpatients and their families within the Alfred Cancer Service.

This newly created position offers a unique opportunity to promote continuous care for cancer patients in the home and within Alfred Health. You will be responsible for delivering advanced social work services, including comprehensive psycho-social assessments, linkages with relevant cancer, community and support services, and advanced counselling and adjustment counselling skills.

As a Grade 2 Social Worker, you will possess a Bachelor of Social Work or recognised equivalent, eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers, and ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team and with families, exhibiting initiative and facilitative qualities. Knowledge of current legislation and policies in relation to social work in a hospital setting is also essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver advanced social work services to outpatients and their families
  • Complete comprehensive psycho-social assessments
  • Ensure linkages with relevant cancer, community and support services
  • Provide advanced counselling and adjustment counselling skills
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and staff from other disciplines

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Social Work or recognised equivalent
  • Eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers
  • Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team and with families
  • Knowledge of current legislation and policies in relation to social work in a hospital setting
