About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Security Compliance Officer, where you will play a key role in coordinating security compliance activities and advising on policies and procedures to protect our global operation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and triage compliance assessments and enquiries related to workforce security arrangements and outcomes.
  • Manage a section mailbox and coordinate advice determinations and escalations.
  • Undertake administrative duties to support departmental security policies and procedures, including reporting, records management, and compliance activities.
  • Contribute to achieving Section and Branch objectives.
  • Support the Branch to deliver timely and consistent responses on policy compliance and security matters.
  • Contribute to reporting and leadership on issues impacting the Section or Branch.
  • Develop an understanding of legislation, policy, and regulations supporting recommendations on security issues and policy.
  • Nurture relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Initiative and strategic thinking to apply sound judgment in decision-making while working with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills, including drafting correspondence and compliance reports.
  • Proven ability to build and manage enduring relationships with key stakeholders to achieve operational and policy outcomes.
  • Ability to harness and analyze information from various sources to support the dissemination of security advice and outcomes.
  • High standards of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism, and a champion of APS and Departmental values.
Desirable Skills
  • Knowledge of the Australian Government's Protective Security Policy Framework.
  • Knowledge of overseas networks and environments.
  • Experience with government records management and filing systems.
