Job Description

As a key member of the Workforce Modelling team, you will play a critical role in supporting strategic decision-making across the Department by delivering high-quality, data-driven analysis of current and future workforce needs.

Using statistics and data analytics, you will work closely with business units to inform resourcing strategies, identify emerging trends, and optimise the allocation of staff to meet the evolving needs of schools and students across New South Wales.

The team is committed to building robust evidence bases that support fair, efficient, and transparent workforce planning. Operating in a highly collaborative and fast-paced environment, you will ensure that insights are accessible, actionable, and aligned with broader departmental goals.

Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Proven experience using modern data analytics and modelling tools (such as Python, SQL, R, Power BI, Tableau) to interrogate large datasets, identify patterns, and generate insights.
  • Experience translating complex findings into clear narratives through data storytelling, visualisation, or briefing materials for non-technical audiences.
  • Familiarity with data governance, data ethics, and responsible use of data in public sector contexts.
