Job Description

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will play a key role in the design and specification of cranes, hoists, and load-handling systems. You will be responsible for leading cross-disciplinary teams to deliver safe and efficient solutions that meet precision, safety, and compliance requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing and specifying cranes, hoists, rail-mounted equipment, and load-handling systems
  • Analyzing load movements, paths, and dynamic behaviors to ensure safe and efficient solutions
  • Preparing lift rigging and motion studies, ensuring compliance with relevant standards
  • Applying structural and mechanical engineering principles across strength, fatigue, stability, braking, and motion dynamics
  • Leading package management activities from specification through to FAT and SAT with suppliers
  • Building strong relationships with stakeholders across operations, maintenance, asset ownership, and regulatory bodies
  • Integrating risk management into every stage of the design to keep safety front and center
Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need to have:

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Proven experience in machine design, particularly cranes, hoists, and rail-mounted equipment
  • Strong knowledge of structural and dynamic analysis, with experience applying relevant standards
  • Hands-on experience preparing rigging and motion studies
  • Demonstrated success in supplier and package management
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams
  • A strong safety mindset and ability to embed risk management in design
  • Australian Citizenship and eligibility to obtain an Australian Defence Clearance
