Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Hydrographer to join our team. As a Hydrographer, you will be responsible for providing best practice Environmental Monitoring services in a safe and timely manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, service, operate and maintain automatic environmental monitoring stations with a focus on accuracy and quality.
  • Collect environmental data from automatic monitoring stations and verify it using computer software before supplying to clients.
  • Maintain accurate record keeping including field observations and calibrations.
  • Conduct flow measurements in rivers, creeks and drains.
  • Perform manual sampling activities from both surface water and groundwater, adhering to QA principles and procedures.
  • Manage projects, liaise with clients and conduct correspondence.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of HSE principles.
  • Travel and work in remote regions of Queensland.
Requirements
  • Some experience in environmental monitoring or hydrography is required.
  • A tertiary qualification in environmental science, water resources or a related field is desirable.
  • Proficiency in data acquisition and hydrographic software applications necessary for effective data management and field instrumentation operation.
  • Project management experience is essential.
  • High attention to detail, strong organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills are required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are necessary.
  • The ability to work collaboratively in a team environment is crucial.
  • Self-motivation and the ability to work independently are essential.
  • The capacity to work in a variety of environmental conditions, including short periods away from home, is required.
  • The ability to perform manual handling tasks in diverse outdoor conditions is necessary.
  • Experience in the use of hand and power tools is beneficial.
  • A current manual car driver's licence is required.
  • 4WD experience is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with health, safety and environmental aspects of field work is essential.
  • The ability to swim is necessary.
