About the Role

Laing O'Rourke is seeking an experienced Mechanical Technician to join our team in Australia. As a Mechanical Technician, you will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing equipment, providing excellent customer service, and working effectively in a dynamic environment.

The ideal candidate will hold a Mechanical Trade Certificate or equivalent and have experience working with heavy plant and equipment. They will also possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team-based environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair equipment in a timely and effective manner
  • Provide excellent customer service while on site
  • Work effectively in a team-based environment
  • Develop and review safe work practices and procedures
  • Perform small and major repairs to vehicles, plant, equipment, and machinery
  • Contribute to the scheduling and maintenance of equipment
  • Support remote projects as required

Requirements

  • Rail Industry Worker (RIW) Card (favourable)
  • OHS Construction Card (White Card)
  • Rail Track experience (favourable)
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol screening
  • Current Mechanical Trade Certificate or equivalent
  • Current Class C (or greater) Drivers Licence
  • Extra tickets an advantage
  • Current Test and Tag or willingness to obtain
  • Current Fire Extinguisher Test and Tag or willingness to obtain

Estimated Salary: AU$90,000 - AU$110,000 per annum, depending on experience
