Job Title: Assessment Manager

The Financial Assistance Scheme (FAS) is seeking a dynamic and strategic leader who will lead a diverse, multidisciplinary team that assesses FAS applications, and provides victim recognition engagement with a focus on delivering an inclusive, trauma-informed and victim-focused service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading a team of senior assessors, assessors, and recognition support officers, supporting them to deliver quality services and ensuring they meet service targets and functional responsibilities
  • Lead and manage daily operations, including allocation of resources, management of incoming work, communication with staff and stakeholders, completion of reports and auditing outputs
  • Provide escalation and advice on applications, including considering and determining complex applications as per the Act, established policy, guidelines, and procedures

About The Business Unit:

The FAS will provide financial assistance through a simple and easy to navigate process that is fair, sensitive, and responsive to victims' needs. It will acknowledge harm and be trauma informed, inclusive and culturally safe.

About You:

  • Extensive experience in management of teams with decision-making functions
  • A strong ability in diplomacy and judgement to provide accurate, clear, and comprehensive decisions within defined time frames
  • A deep commitment to actively pursuing a culturally safe workplace and organisation and improved outcomes for Aboriginal people, aligned with the principle of self-determination

Qualifications/Requirements:

A relevant tertiary qualification and/or experience in community services, social work, criminology, psychology, victim services and/or family violence is essential.
