We are seeking a passionate Counsellor to join our clinical team at the South West Aboriginal Medical Service (SWAMS). As a Counsellor, you will play a vital role in providing culturally safe and respectful support to our community.
Key Responsibilities- Provide individual and group counselling sessions to clients, focusing on mental health, alcohol and other drug issues, and disabilities.
- Develop and implement culturally sensitive case management plans, working collaboratively with clients and other healthcare professionals.
- Conduct risk assessments and develop strategies to mitigate risks, ensuring the safety and well-being of clients.
- Collaborate with the Mental Health team to deliver health promotion initiatives and events, promoting the health and wellbeing of our community.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic case files, ensuring compliance with data collection and reporting requirements.
- Tertiary qualification in Counselling, Social Work, or Psychology, or a similar field.
- Well-developed counselling skills, with the ability to work with clients from diverse backgrounds.
- Integrated understanding of the historical context of Aboriginal people, with a commitment to cultural safety and respect.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, with a high level of autonomy and self-motivation.
- Sound interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with clients, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
- Current Working with Children Check, WA Driver's Licence, and National Police Certificate, or the ability to obtain.
