Development Compliance Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Development Compliance Specialist to join our team at the Sunshine Coast Council.

This role is a key part of our Development Services Branch, which enables sustainable development for the community on the Sunshine Coast by working with industry stakeholders to achieve timely, customer-focused development assessment services, advice and advocacy in the areas of planning, engineering, environment, landscape, building, plumbing and legislative compliance.

  • Respond to, investigate and seek to resolve complaints relating to land use and the built environment to ensure compliance with the relevant Acts and Regulations.
  • Provide expert guidance and technical assistance to internal and external stakeholders on matters relating to development and building compliance.
  • Contribute to reports to Council, and prepare correspondence, briefing notes, advisory, show cause enforcement notices on development compliance and enforcement matters.

This position has recently relocated to a state-of-the-art facility in the heart of Maroochydore CBD. This innovative workspace is designed to foster collaboration and innovation.

You will have strong communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills to work effectively with stakeholders. You will also be eligible for appointment as an authorised person in accordance with Council's functions, and hold a valid Class 'C' unrestricted Drivers licence.
