Job Opportunity:

The role of an Environmental Advisor is a dynamic and challenging opportunity for an environmental professional to make a positive impact in a unique and dynamic operating environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing environmental compliance at airports, with a focus on tenant and contractor environmental performance, inspections, and water quality monitoring.

This involves implementing and overseeing tenant and contractor environmental management programs, conducting regular inspections, audits, and monitoring activities to ensure compliance, reviewing and assessing Environmental Management Plans (EMPs) for development and operational activities, and managing environmental monitoring programs (e.g. water, air, noise, waste, soil).

The Environmental Advisor will also investigate and respond to environmental incidents in line with procedures, deliver environmental inductions and training for staff, tenants, and contractors, maintain accurate databases, records, and regulatory reporting, and work with the Environmental Systems Manager to support sustainability and compliance outcomes.

The ideal candidate will have tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or related discipline, experience in implementing or working with Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001 or similar), hands-on experience with inspections, audits, and environmental monitoring, strong organisational skills with the ability to manage priorities and projects, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and strong attention to detail with ability to identify risks, trends and compliance gaps.

Additional desirable qualifications include experience in airport operations, GIS or environmental data management experience, ISO 14001 auditing training/experience, and incident investigation training (e.g. ICAM).
