Veterinary Nurse Team Leader

We are seeking an exceptional leader with a passion for surgery and patient care to lead our nursing team in our dynamic Surgery Department.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in leadership, excellent organizational abilities, and a desire for professional growth.

  • Lead the nursing team in our Surgery Department, fostering a positive work environment that promotes productivity and collaboration.
  • Conduct probation and performance reviews, identifying areas for growth and development.
  • Recruit and onboard new staff members to ensure a cohesive team.
  • Coordinate scheduling to guarantee adequate staffing levels, ensuring seamless operations.
  • Approve timesheets for overtime worked outside of regular rostered hours.
  • Manage annual leave and personal leave requests, balancing individual needs with team requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and coordinate surgical procedures, utilizing best practices and optimizing resources.
  • Collaborate with surgeons and other professionals to deliver exceptional patient care, coordinating daily operations and workflows.
  • Work closely with the team on the floor, providing guidance and mentoring to enhance skills and knowledge.
Reporting and Communication:
  • Maintain open communication channels with all team members, encouraging transparency and feedback.
  • Submit regular reports to senior management, highlighting performance and progress.
  • Prepare for and participate in weekly meetings, sharing insights and updates on team performance and concerns.
Requirements:
  • A certified Veterinary Nurse or Technologist with a proven track record in leadership and a desire for professional growth.
  • Previous experience working in a specialty hospital is highly valued.
