Job Opportunity: Wine Connoisseur

We are seeking a skilled Sommelier to join our team in the Italian Fine Dining Restaurant at a prestigious winery in Melbourne, AU.

The ideal candidate will be a vital member of the executive management team, responsible for coordinating a sophisticated and unpretentious dining environment showcasing an exclusive list of mainly Italian varieties and in-house made wines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Sommelier is required.
  • Possession of a passion for the wine industry and knowledge of Italian wines is essential.
  • The successful candidate must have extensive knowledge of wine, new and old world.
  • Exceptional service skills and a guest-focused approach are crucial for this role.
  • Ability to monitor stock control, par levels, weekly and monthly inventory counts and analysis is necessary.
  • Strong financial acumen and leadership skills are also required.
  • Highly adaptable and able to perform in high-pressure service periods, with proven ability in building effective relationships.
  • Organisational and time management skills, as well as exceptional communication and presentation skills, are highly valued.
  • Full-time availability including weekends, public holidays, opening, and closing shifts is a requirement.
  • WSET certification or similar highly regarded qualifications are desirable.
  • RSA certificate is mandatory.
  • Ability to lift 20kgs is also necessary.
