Operational Lead for a Sustainable Saw Mill

The successful candidate will oversee the establishment of a comprehensive saw mill operation, incorporating log yards, green mills, drying facilities, preservation plants, dry mills, and dispatch systems. This will involve meeting domestic and international contracts while maintaining world-class standards for safety, quality, environmental performance, and financial outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop a detailed restart plan for an inactive sawmill and treatment facility, ensuring timely and cost-effective implementation.
  • Implement a strategic capital improvement program, overseeing contractors to deliver projects within scope, schedule, and budget objectives.
  • Design and implement modern control systems, automation, and data analytics tools to optimize operational efficiency.
  • Coordinate daily and weekly production schedules to fulfill domestic and international supply contracts, prioritizing customer satisfaction and on-time delivery.
Requirements:
  • Possess a degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Forestry, or a comparable discipline.
  • Demonstrate greater than 10 years of experience in wood products manufacturing, including at least 3 years of leadership experience in a sawmill, treatment plant, or comparable heavy process restart/greenfield deployment.
  • Exhibit expert knowledge of timber treatment processes (CCA, ACQ, LOSP) and adherence to Australian/New Zealand and export standards.
