About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and suitably qualified individual to fill the position of Ranger within our Environmental Services department.

As a Ranger, you will be responsible for providing effective regulatory services to the local community, including animal control, parking patrols, stock control, and local law enforcement.

You will work closely with the Team Leader Environment to ensure compliance with statutory obligations and promote council values.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct patrols and inspections to monitor compliance with relevant Acts and Regulations.
  • Investigate complaints and issue infringements or cautions as per relevant legislation.
  • Impound vehicles and arrange sale or return as necessary.
  • Provide community education on companion animals and other regulatory matters.
  • Attend court to give evidence in support of any prosecutions on behalf of Council when required.
Requirements
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant sections of the Local Government Act 1993; Companion Animals Act 1998; Impounding Act 1993; Road Rules 2014; Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997; Road Transport Act 2013; Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979; Rural Fires Act 1997 and other legislation relevant to the position.
  • Previous experience working as a Ranger or in a law enforcement role.
  • Previous experience in customer service and dealing with difficult customers.
  • Previous experience in animal control.
  • Current Class C Drivers Licence.
  • Demonstrated commitment to honesty and integrity.

  • A competitive salary between $1,160.79 and $1,275.48 per week, commensurate with your skills, qualifications and experience.
  • A permanent, full-time position with 38 hours per week.
  • On call allowance when performing on call duties.
