Role Overview

The Head of School plays a pivotal role in Faculty leadership, contributing to the UNSW ADA2051 Foundational strategy.

This position reports to the Faculty Dean and involves leading the strategic direction, staff development and culture, research performance, student education experience, and community engagement of the School.

The Head of School must foster a collaborative and inclusive culture within the School while working closely with the Faculty Leadership team to promote shared goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a strategic vision for the School and engage staff to realize that vision.
  • Establish and maintain a supportive and productive environment within the School and enhance connectivity across the Faculty.
  • Collaborate with the Dean and Faculty in developing strategic direction for the School to meet agreed objectives.
  • Lead Program Directors and assist the Associate Dean (Education) in enrolment planning.
  • Be responsible for recruitment strategies, workload allocation, early career support, performance review, and management of academic staff.
