Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of unpaid carers? Carers NSW seeks a dedicated and values-driven Board Director to help shape the future of support for carers across New South Wales.

This is a unique opportunity to use your expertise and leadership to influence strategy, advocate for carers, and ensure their voices are heard at the highest levels. As a Board Director, you will contribute to effective governance and draw on your experience to achieve strategic priorities.

Board activities include strategic planning, Board development, and reviewing financial performance. Meetings are held at least six times a year, usually lasting three to four hours. There may also be opportunities to serve on Board committees and working groups.

The Board has determined that applicants must meet certain Eligibility Criteria:

  • Have demonstrated experience in academic policy development and research within the human services and/or not-for-profit sector
  • Hold experience in Technology/Technology Consulting at a Senior/Executive level
  • Have a record of participation in the non-government and/or human service sectors at a leadership level or above

Applicants must also possess certain skills, competencies, and/or experience:

  • Be a representative of demographic groups including carers, rural/remote communities, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, young people (18-25 years), or individuals from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
  • Exhibit leadership, vision, and the ability to champion Carers NSW's vision
  • Have an understanding of the principles and practices of effective corporate governance
  • Hold sound knowledge of accounting and finance
  • Exhibit experience in developing strategy and building new revenue sources
  • Exhibit experience in building partnerships, both corporate and government

In addition to these specific criteria, applicants must:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Not be bankrupt or in financial insolvency
  • Not be an employee of Carers NSW or receive fees from the organisation
  • Not have been convicted of an offence involving fraud or dishonesty
  • Not be ineligible to be a Director under relevant Acts

Successful applicants will be provided with an induction to Carers NSW and support and mentoring from other Directors.
