Senior Software Engineer Role

The University of Sydney is seeking highly skilled software engineers to contribute to the development, testing and deployment of ground and/or airborne robotic systems.

Job Description

We are looking for experienced software engineers with a strong background in software design and development. As a senior software engineer, you will be responsible for designing, deploying and managing R&D software projects in field robotics.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Design and deploy R&D software projects in field robotics
  • Engage with industry partners and the public
  • Support the team lead and project manager in planning, risk management, field trials and report writing

You will work closely with the project team to deliver high-quality solutions that meet the requirements of our stakeholders.

Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • A degree in Computer, Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Strong programming experience (C++, Python, Bash, Matlab; min. 3 years)
  • Experience with Linux systems and/or Robot Operating System (ROS)
  • Knowledge of object-oriented design, multithreaded/multiprocess applications

Desirable qualifications include experience with machine learning, point cloud/image processing and path planning.
