
Domestic Violence Counsellor Role

Casual contracts are available for up to 12 weeks with potential permanent roles. We offer flexible shift options to suit your needs, including full-time and part-time work.
We have partnered with a domestic violence hotline and are seeking counsellors and clinical team leaders to join our 24/7 team. The role involves providing immediate support in a safe environment, delivering trauma-informed responses, and making referrals as needed.
Core Responsibilities:
- Provide immediate response in a supportive and safe environment.
- Deliver a trauma-informed strengths-based person-centred brief outcome-focused response that meets the needs of each caller.
- Make appropriate referrals and provide support based on the needs of the individual seeking help.
- Ensure all statutory obligations are met regarding mandatory reporting (i.e. reporting cases involving children and young people at risk).
- Educate callers on available resources and services.
Experience & Qualification:
- A minimum three-year Bachelor's qualification in a relevant field (e.g. social work, psychology, or counselling).
- Police check and working with children's check.
- Must hold Peak Body Registration (e.g. PACFA, ACA, AASW) or be eligible to register within six months.
- At least two years full-time structured evidence-based counselling experience.
- Demonstrated experience in brief, outcome-focused counselling (preferably telephone counselling) or equivalent experience in specialised sexual assault, domestic and family violence counselling.
Clinical Team Leader Responsibilities:
- Manage the day-to-day delivery of the service within their team.
- Escalate issues, provide coaching, and make decisions related to service delivery.
- Act as the first point of contact for their team on operational and practice-related matters.
- Ensure service delivery is of a quality standard, professional, efficient, timely, and meets the requirements of the defined clinical framework and contractual KPIs.
