ASC is Australia's submarine company with a long history of delivering complex projects. The Collins Class submarines are internationally regarded as among the best conventional submarines in the world. The Lead / Senior Software Engineer will support the Collins Class Submarine Life of Type Extension (LOTE) program, which aims to provide the nation with submarine capability into the 2030s.
The project involves integrating the LOTE Integrated Ship Control Management and Monitoring System into the Submarine. This requires close collaboration with stakeholders to deliver the Navy's specific requirements. The team responsible for this project is highly skilled and experienced in submarine design and engineering.
In this role, you will perform and review engineering calculations, document findings through structured Engineering Reports, and contribute to the verification of system requirements. You will also collaborate with subcontractors and internal stakeholders to clarify requirements, review proposed solutions, and support the validation of software and control systems. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that the systems perform as intended and meet operational needs.
You will work closely with the team to achieve common goals and make decisions based on evidence and reasoning. Your ability to analyze complex data and communicate effectively with others is crucial in this role. Additionally, you must be able to set priorities and work standards, managing multiple parallel tasks with high personal organization. Defense experience is ideal but not mandatory. You should hold a Bachelor's Degree in Software Engineering or similar, satisfying membership of Engineers Australia (or equivalent) at MIEAust level.
This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance to NV1 level. Your eligibility depends on obtaining and maintaining such clearance. ASC accepts all applications, but this role requires access to protected US defence technology. Applicants holding nationality of certain foreign countries will not be eligible.
