Job Summary

Mission Australia is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate AOD Counsellor to join our team at Triple Care Farm Robertson. As a key member of our counselling and case management team, you will provide effective interventions to facilitate recovery and rehabilitation from problematic drug and alcohol use.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individual counselling to young people participating in the program, utilizing evidence-based practices to address their unique needs and goals.
  • Facilitate group counselling sessions, including Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, to promote social skills, emotional regulation, and relapse prevention.
  • Develop and implement drug education and psycho-education group work, tailored to the needs of our clients and the community.
  • Respond to mental health emergencies, providing crisis intervention and support as needed.
  • Conduct assessments, provide case management advice, and lead ongoing counselling and support for young people at risk.
  • Assess the need for referral to mental health professionals, ensuring seamless transitions and comprehensive care.
Requirements
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, or Allied Health, with registration with the relevant professional body.
  • Proven ability to relate to homeless and disadvantaged young people, including an understanding of the impact of drug and alcohol misuse.
  • Current NSW driver's license class C.
  • Demonstrated computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, with strong interpersonal and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Evidence of full COVID-19 vaccination.
