Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services (KAMS) is a well-established regional Aboriginal community-controlled health service, founded in 1986. It provides centralised advocacy and resource support for 6 independent member services, as well as providing direct clinical services in a further 5 remote Aboriginal communities across the region.

KAMS has successfully delivered high-quality, accessible comprehensive primary health care services over its 34 years of operation. The organisation has provided innovation and national leadership in areas such as health information management and evidence-based best practice in Aboriginal Health.

**Job Description**

As a Medical Director, you will provide clinical, strategic, and technical leadership to KAMS and its member services. Your responsibilities include:

  1. Providing clinical, medico-legal, and strategic advice to the CEO and board on Aboriginal health policy and service delivery
  2. Leading the clinical services area, providing expert guidance and oversight to key medical personnel
  3. Developing and fostering strategic alliances to strengthen Aboriginal health policy and practice in the Kimberley
  4. Driving continuous quality improvement and best practice clinical care across KAMS and member services
  5. Overseeing the credentialing, compliance, and professional development of medical staff
  6. Providing expert technical support and guidance to KAMS business units and clinical teams
  7. Representing KAMS at regional and national meetings, conferences, and workshops to advocate for Aboriginal health needs

**Required Skills and Qualifications**

To qualify, you will need to be a registered Medical Practitioner and hold a Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) and/or the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM). A minimum of senior-level experience in Aboriginal primary health care will be highly regarded. You must also have the ability to travel regularly by air and road and hold a current 'C' class driver's licence.
