Key Responsibilities- Manage the design process from pre-planning to construction, ensuring designs meet project goals and client requirements.
- Provide guidance and advice on design implications and build feasibility issues, offering expertise on design choices and identifying potential issues.
- Offer recommendations and insights concerning value management and project specifications, aligning project specs with objectives and minimizing costs.
- Ensure consistent application of design processes across projects, implementing standardized methodologies.
- Contribute to developing an adaptable Design Management Plan tailored to suit the unique requirements of different projects.
- Address inquiries and manage communications with stakeholders promptly and professionally.
- Participate in workshops with the project team, actively contributing ideas to enhance the design process.
- Lead or engage in meetings, preparing necessary documents and distributing relevant materials for effective communication.
- Offer advice on legislative compliance and the latest design standards, ensuring designs adhere to regulations.
- Incorporate Hickory's guidelines and best practices, including the Hickory Way, into design documents.
- Ensure compliance with Occupational Health, Safety & Environmental standards, focusing on safe design practices.
- Complete Health Safety and Environment requirements, including monitoring design change checklists and risk assessments.
- Provide risk assessments and manage commercial risks in design outputs to minimize negative impact.
- Maintain design brief within cost restraints, avoiding unnecessary expenses.
- Ensure all design output meets quality standards and specifications set by Hickory and its clients.
- Implement sustainable design practices, integrating environmental and sustainability standards into the design process.
- Supervise the adoption of innovative technologies and software for design processes to enhance efficiency and quality.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring their needs are met throughout the design process.
- Continuously review and refine internal design processes to enhance efficiency and reduce redundancy.
- Address conflicts or issues promptly, working with teams to find effective solutions.
- Stay updated on new design technologies and industry trends to incorporate innovative methods.
- Oversee the comprehensive documentation of the design process, generating reports and documentation for stakeholders.
- Bachelor of Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Project Management or equivalent.
- 10 years of experience in Design Management for commercial construction projects.
- Proven Leadership and Team Management Skills.
- Strong Knowledge of Regulatory Compliance and Design Standards.
- Experience in managing design budgets effectively, optimising resources and making strategic decisions to ensure design excellence within budget constraints.
- Track record of integrating innovative design concepts and leveraging cutting-edge technology tools to enhance the design process.
