Job Title: Secondary English Humanities Teacher

About the Role:

  • We are seeking a committed Christian educator with experience in teaching English Humanities.
  • VCE experience is highly desirable.

The successful applicant will be responsible for planning and implementing a range of teaching programs or courses of study, as well as providing a child safe environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Plan and implement a range of teaching programs or courses of study;
  2. Have the content knowledge and pedagogical practice to meet the diverse needs of all students;
  3. Demonstrate a commitment to improving professional practice through coaching and professional development;
  4. Provide a child safe environment in accordance with the child safe standards;
  5. Participate in child safety and wellbeing induction and training provided by the school and always follow the school's child safety and wellbeing policies and procedures;
  6. Act in accordance with our Child Safety Code of Conduct;
  7. Identify and raise concerns about child safety issues in accordance with our Child Safety Responding and Reporting Obligations Policy and Procedures;
  8. Ensure students' views are taken seriously and their voices are heard about decisions that affect their lives;
  9. Model and promote the vision and values of the school;
  10. Teach an area of the curriculum to senior year levels;
  11. Maintain records of class attendance and recording student progress;
  12. Implement effective student management consistent with the school's strategic plan;
  13. Attend and participate in staff meetings as required;
  14. Be actively involved in regular staff devotions and prayer.

Requirements:

  • Evidence of the right to work in Australia;
  • Proof of identity;
  • Recognised teaching qualification;
  • Clearance status of the Working with Children Check (where applicable);
  • Registered with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT);
  • Statements of service from previous child-connected roles;
  • References from previous child-connected roles.

About You:

  • Be a committed Christian, comfortable with sharing your faith;
  • Be committed to improving student academic outcomes;
  • Have high expectations for what students are capable of, both academically and behaviourally;
  • Relate well to staff, students and parents, inspiring and managing students, and communicating effectively with parents;
  • Have a servant heart;
  • Have demonstrated excellent organisational skills;
  • Have experience in VCE (desirable).
