About This Role

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Food Service Assistant to join our patient catering team. In this role, you will be part of a dynamic and fast-paced environment, committed to delivering exceptional patient-focused food services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve food to patients, staff, and visitors in a timely and courteous manner, ensuring portion control and presentation standards are met.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness in food preparation and service areas, including washing dishes, cleaning kitchen equipment, and sanitizing surfaces.
  • Interact with patients, staff, and visitors in a friendly and professional manner, addressing any questions or concerns about the food service.
  • Help in the delivery of meals to patients' rooms, ensuring accuracy and adherence to hospital protocols.
  • Provide general support to chefs and kitchen staff, including taking on additional tasks as needed during busy periods.
  • Maintain accurate records of food temperatures, delivery times, and any dietary adjustments, ensuring compliance with hospital policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in food service, particularly within healthcare or aged care settings, is highly regarded.
  • A strong understanding of food hygiene practices and cleanliness standards is essential.
  • Passthrough exceptional customer service with a keen attention to detail.
  • A high level of reliability, punctuality, and professionalism is required.
  • An excellent personal presentation and hygiene standard is expected.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills are necessary.
  • Flexibility in shift availability, including weekends and public holidays, is required.
