Behaviour Support Practitioner Role

The Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle is seeking a Behaviour Support Practitioner to work with individuals supported through the Permanency Support Program, Out of Home Care, and those receiving NDIS-funded services.

This role involves conducting functional assessments of challenging behaviours and developing Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) plans tailored to individual needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver flexible, person-centred support to promote meaningful goals, choice, and control to enhance quality of life.
  • Collaborate with individuals, families, carers, caseworkers, and support teams to ensure compliance with legislative and clinical requirements.
  • Advocate for the rights and dignity of individuals with disabilities, mental health conditions, neurodevelopmental disorders, or trauma backgrounds.
Requirements:
  • Relevant qualifications in Disabilities, Social Science Field, Mental Health, Nursing, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, or a related discipline.
  • Ability to attain Provisional Accreditation with NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission.
  • Current NDIS Worker Check (NDISWC) or willingness to obtain.
  • Current Driver's Licence.
  • Current Working with Children Check (WWCC) or willingness to obtain.
