Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Data Support Engineer to join our team, who will be responsible for providing operational support for our data platforms, ensuring they meet business requirements and technology key performance indicators (KPIs). The successful candidate will work closely with the business, vendors, and projects to manage, govern, and maintain our data services across various technologies.

This is a critical role that requires strong technical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a passion for innovation. As a Data Support Engineer at Bupa, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of technologies, including Azure, SQL, DevOps, and more.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operational Support: Provide day-to-day operational support for our data platforms, ensuring they meet business service level agreements (SLAs) and technology KPIs.
  • Knowledge Base Management: Create and maintain knowledge base documents to facilitate faster issue resolution and improve operational efficiency.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Identify the root cause of issues and provide resolutions to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Self-Healing Options: Implement self-healing options to reduce manual effort required for issue resolution.
  • Tech Debt Management: Manage and track technical debt, working with stakeholders to plan and progress its resolution.
  • Deployment Practices: Ensure deployment practices are followed, and unauthorized changes are prevented.
  • Design and Code Reviews: Perform design and code reviews as required, ensuring high-quality deliverables.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Data Management Practices: Strong understanding of data management practices and ITIL processes.
  • Azure Certifications: Possession of Azure certifications or equivalent experience.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Azure DataBricks, PySpark, SQL/TSQL, Azure Data Factory, Scala, Java, DevOps, and Git.

In return for your expertise, we offer a competitive salary of $120,000 - $150,000 per annum, depending on experience.
