As a biographer, you will have the opportunity to work with elderly clients, recording their stories and memories for loved ones.

About this role
  • This is a unique chance to capture a life well-lived, one story at a time.

You will be working independently to record client stories, which will then be transcribed and edited using Microsoft Word. This process can occur in the evenings, while the face-to-face interview will take place on a weekday between 9am-4pm.

We are looking for volunteers who are passionate about improving the quality of life for older people.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Visit clients in their homes for 1 hour per week
  • Use a dictaphone to record client stories
  • Transcribe and edit recordings using Microsoft Word

Required skills and qualifications:

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word
  • 50 words per minute typing skills
  • Able to work independently and problem solve
  • Own car to drive to client's home
  • Willingness to learn new technology and software

  • This is a long-term commitment, requiring up to 5 hours per week
