This role focuses on managing, implementing and evaluating projects and initiatives related to transforming learning within online, face-to-face and hybrid delivery methods.

The Learning Manager engages champions in action research projects and change management initiatives as part of Learning and Teaching's focus on capability building amongst stakeholders.

Developing frameworks, guidelines and templates to support learning, teaching and innovation practices is an essential focus of this role.

The role encompasses planning, project management and stakeholder management activities, hands-on learning design, academic development, training and professional development advancing the institution through educational innovation.

A high level of collaboration with teaching and management staff is required, as well as certain committees, groups and networks contributing to curriculum development, learning design, staff professional development and improving the quality of teaching, student learning and course delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing and evaluating curriculum development projects to enhance student learning and outcomes.
  • Providing guidelines, templates, support and recommendations to staff on developing instructional strategies for on-campus, blended and online learning scenarios.
  • Scoping, planning, implementing, evaluating and reporting on projects, pilots and innovation initiatives.
  • Managing and evaluating learning and teaching innovation projects, including integrating new technologies into existing practice.
  • Using best practice approaches to pedagogy to inform learning design work.
  • Providing guidance to curriculum development groups, academic units and individual staff on designing and building LMS sites to support and enhance blended delivery.
  • Providing guidelines, templates, support and recommendations to staff on developing evaluation strategies for ongoing quality enhancement of technology systems and tools.
  • Analysing interactions with teaching staff and identifying opportunities for professional development initiatives.
  • Actively engaging in the scholarship of L&T through applied research, presentations and/or publication.
  • Providing teaching staff with opportunities to disseminate their L&T practice.

About You

  • A Postgraduate degree or equivalent in education or research-related discipline and/or significant relevant professional experience.
  • Evidence of significant experience in teaching, delivering training, conducting workshops and giving presentations.
  • Ability to foster productive stakeholder relationships, drawing on well-developed communication skills.
  • A broad understanding of and considerable hands-on experience with a range of innovations and technologies used in tertiary learning environments.
  • Proficiency in the use of the Moodle Learning Management System.
  • Experience in project management in a tertiary education setting.
  • Effectiveness in designing and developing curricula in a tertiary education setting.
  • Effectiveness in designing and facilitating academic/teacher professional development initiatives in a tertiary education setting.
  • Capacity to inspire and innovate and to identify and take advantage of new opportunities.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills, including high standards in report writing, presentation and group facilitation.
  • Well-developed organisational skills and demonstrated ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.
