About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as an Industry Affairs Manager in the South West Pacific region. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for supporting and executing IATA's activities in the region, including the delivery of our agenda and the achievement of set objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the delivery of IATA's agenda in the South West Pacific, working closely with the Area Manager to build and maintain relationships with member airlines, airports, and industry stakeholders.
  • Advocate for and promote IATA's policies, positions, and objectives amongst airlines, governments, and industry stakeholders, and coordinate with the Area Manager on the local implementation of global projects and campaigns.
  • Monitor and report on aero-political, economic, and commercial developments in the region, taking or recommending actions consistent with IATA's policies and objectives.
  • Work with the Area Manager to develop and implement strategies to enhance airport operations, flight safety, and environmental sustainability initiatives in the aviation sector.
  • Support corporate fiscal, legal, and regulatory compliance in the South West Pacific, and contribute to commercial and business development activities, including identifying new opportunities and monitoring market trends.
  • Collaborate with IATA's Corporate Communications department and the Area Manager to develop and implement national communication strategies in support of IATA's objectives, and coordinate with the Regional Leadership Team on marketplace communications.
  • Organize IATA events in the South West Pacific and represent the organization at local and regional industry events, serving as a facilitator and host for visits of IATA's Senior Managers and/or Subject Matter Experts.
Requirements
  • University degree in Aviation, Business Administration, Political Science, or a relevant discipline, with an advanced degree being an asset.
  • Minimum of twenty years of professional experience, with at least five years in a similar role, and proven experience in leading teams and building relationships.
  • Sound understanding and knowledge of government and regulatory frameworks within the aviation sector, with well-developed negotiation and lobbying skills and a high level of cultural intelligence.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with fluency in English and knowledge of French and other regional languages being an advantage.
  • Ability to work in a small team environment and sound knowledge of information technology systems and their applications.
