This is an entry-level position in the production department of a mining operation.

We are seeking an individual with strong analytical and problem-solving skills to join our team as an Autonomous Technician. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and repairing electrical systems, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, performing diagnostics, and ensuring autonomous equipment operates safely and efficiently.

About the Role:

In this role, you will work in a dynamic team environment, collaborating with site personnel to achieve safety and performance targets. You will also be required to maintain effective communication with maintenance and production teams to optimize equipment availability and reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and support autonomous mining systems to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues on autonomous vehicles while collaborating with site operational teams and third-party support.
  • Conduct routine diagnostics and upgrades to improve system efficiency, safety, and performance.
  • Communicate effectively with maintenance and production teams to optimise equipment availability and reliability.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and contribute to a strong safety culture.

Requirements:

  • Trade qualification in Auto Electrical or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience with autonomous mining equipment and exposure to Caterpillar truck fleet 797F, 793F, 785D.
  • Certification in CAT Command for Hauling as well as experience with CAT Terrain and the CAT Minestar Fleet Management System.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a passion for driving improvements to Autonomous Haulage Systems.
  • The ability to communicate effectively and establish and maintain strong relationships with all stakeholders.
  • A positive attitude, an appetite to learn, and a desire to be part of a collaborative team culture.
