About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Principal Heritage Consultant to join our team at NRM. As a key member of our Heritage team, you will be responsible for providing expert advice and guidance on cultural heritage matters, including site assessments, management plans, and archival recording and analysis.

With a strong background in Aboriginal cultural heritage consulting services, you will have a deep understanding of the Queensland environment and the ability to work effectively with Aboriginal communities, clients, and stakeholders.

As a leader in our team, you will have the opportunity to mentor and support your colleagues, and take on direct management of a small team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on cultural heritage matters, including site assessments, management plans, and archival recording and analysis.
  • Work closely with Aboriginal communities, clients, and stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Lead and manage small teams to deliver high-quality cultural heritage projects.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders to ensure ongoing business development opportunities.
Requirements
  • 12+ years of experience in Aboriginal cultural heritage consulting services in the Queensland environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Commonwealth heritage laws, QLD laws, and local heritage planning requirements.
  • Reputation for conducting high-quality, ethical cultural heritage assessments and maintaining positive relationships with Aboriginal communities.
  • Strong people management and emotional intelligence skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and engage others.
  • Ability to manage complex projects from beginning to end.
