Sydney, New South Wales, Australia Beaumont People Full time

The Organisation

By joining this team, you become an integral part of a transformative mission that goes beyond fighting poverty. Through innovative programs and microfinance initiatives, this organisation creates sustainable pathways for economic growth, entrepreneurship, and financial inclusion.

This development organisation seeks to alleviate poverty in developing countries – one family and one community at a time. By providing small loans to families in need, this organisation helps them grow their own businesses and generate sustainable incomes so they can lift themselves out of poverty with dignity.

To break the cycle of poverty for good, this organisation also increases families' access to healthcare and quality education, while strengthening communities to reduce the risk of gender-based violence – creating a new future for generations to come.

The Role - Major Gift Manager

Due to an internal promotion, the team is growing. In this position, you will lead the NSW/ACT major donor relationship portfolio and be responsible for acquiring financial support from individuals, trusts and foundations, and commercial organisations.

You will report to and work closely with a passionate and driven Head of Fundraising. As part of a collaborative national team of five, you will manage your region's portfolio of donors with a focus on acquisition, retention and upgrade, making strategic asks that result in income generation.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a strategic acquisition plan to identify, research, qualify and onboard new major donors.
  • Steward existing major donors who have generously given to the organisation and qualify a portfolio of mid-value donors.
  • Develop a personalised and tailored supporter journey for your portfolio.
  • Build strong, lasting relationships with a focus on getting to know your donors' interests, motivations, giving patterns and ask preferences.
  • Maintain the retention and upgrade goals of your portfolio.
  • Work collaboratively with the program team to understand their work in order to develop compelling proposals and impact reports.
  • Regularly report on your personal activity and portfolio pipeline and results.
  • In addition to your business as usual relationship management, have a desire to represent the organisation at forums, events, expos and conferences.

Your Skills and Attributes

  • This organisation is motivated by the parable of the Good Samaritan, therefore a strong and active alignment with the values of the Christian ethos will be key to your success in this role.
  • Experience as a major gift manager or senior coordinator from the nonprofit sector.
  • Demonstrated experience in both acquiring and stewarding existing major donors.
  • Confident, proactive, and personable.
  • Strong, professional communicator coupled with a love of best-practice process.
  • Excellent and detailed administration skills and the ability to execute on a plan, comfortable working within a small, hands-on team.
  • Flexibility for occasional regional travel to connect with supporters.
  • A willingness to travel overseas with supporters to witness the impact their gifts have on families building lives free from poverty.

Benefits to You

  • Sydney CBD-based office with flexibility to WFH 2 days per week.
  • Caring and collaborative team that enjoys a strong sense of purpose and a supportive environment.
  • A range of generous leave options.
  • Access to a first-class EAP to support wellbeing.
  • Competitive salary and salary packaging options.

How to Apply

If your previous work experience and values align to this position, then apply now by sending an up-to-date resume through the 'APPLY' option.

**If you don't have experience in a charity-based major gift fundraising role, then please also provide a covering letter outlining your demonstrated success in driving long-term, high-value individual relationships in the commercial sector.**
