Job Title: Finance Officer

About the Role:

This role involves providing financial management services to support the delivery of key business outcomes. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, verifying and entering financial data into computerised systems, reconciling financial data and maintaining accounting records.

  • Main Responsibilities:
  • Preparing, verifying and entering financial data into computerised financial management information systems.
  • Reconciling financial data and maintaining associated accounting records, including the filing of source documentation.
  • Preparing and undertaking banking tasks.
  • Responding to debtor and creditor enquiries and assisting departmental staff with accounting issues.
  • Providing general assistance within the financial management services section and undertaking other financial duties as required.

Essential Requirements:

The Head of the State Service has determined that a person nominated for appointment to this position is to satisfy a pre-employment check before taking up the appointment, promotion or transfer. Any relevant serious criminal offence or repeated serious offences over any period, which are not mitigated by additional information, may provide grounds for declining an application for appointment. Such offences would include but are not limited to:

  • Arson and fire setting;
  • Sexual offences;
  • Dishonesty e.g. theft burglary breaking and entering fraud;
  • Deception e.g. obtaining an advantage by deception;
  • Making false declarations;
  • Violent crimes and crimes against the person;
  • Malicious damage and destruction to property;
  • Trafficking of narcotic substances;
  • False alarm raising.

Desirable Requirements:

Achieving qualifications recognised at Certificate 3 or equivalent level demonstrates knowledge and expertise in this field.
