Senior Piggery Stockperson Role

This is a key position within our organisation for a piggery stockperson to work across multiple farm sites.

About the Job
  • Supervise and maintain site facilities, ensuring they are well-maintained and operational at all times.
  • Maintain and adhere to our Company Quality Assurance program, ensuring all relevant documentation is up-to-date and current.
  • Collect and record data accurately to aid in stock and inventory management.
Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Oversee trial sheds, collecting and recording data in accordance with trial protocols.
  2. Select breeding stock and/or pigs for sale, considering factors such as quality and market demand.
  3. Conduct daily inspections of livestock, ensuring they receive adequate food, water, and environmental care.

The Senior Stockperson will supervise less experienced staff members and participate in tasks including:

  • Euthanising sick or injured stock humanely and reporting findings.
  • Conducting post-mortem examinations of deceased stock.
  • Supervising the birthing process, including internal assessments of females during parturition.
Requirements
  • AQF Certificate III (or higher/equivalent) qualification in Agriculture (Pig Production).
  • At least 3 years recent experience in a medium to large commercial piggery.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Advanced knowledge in animal husbandry, welfare, and pig production.
  • Familiarity with computer systems an advantage.
