Key Responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced Pipe Welder to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing high-quality welding duties using advanced GTAW processes in the workshops and on board the Collins Class Submarines.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Interpreting and understanding Fabrication drawings.
  • Setting up welding equipment, including selecting the appropriate welding methods.
  • Performing advanced welding techniques in GTAW, including Mirror welding, Confined space, and restricted techniques.
  • Operating cutting and shaping equipment, such as grinders, saws, and cutting torches to prepare material for welding.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized work area.
  • Working effectively within a team environment.
  • Demonstrating physical stamina and dexterity to perform fabrication and welding duties in various positions and environments.

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A current National Police Clearance.
  • An Australian Defence Security Clearance.
  • Fabrication or Welding Trade Qualified experience.
  • Advanced welding techniques.
  • Confined Space experience.

Preferred Skills and Experience

It is desirable that you have:

  • Experience with welding processes GTAW.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience as a Fabricator/Welder.
  • Pipe fitting and Fabrication skills.
  • Working knowledge of exotic alloys, copper nickel, SMO stainless, 316 S/S.
