About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager to lead our railway signalling projects in Sydney. As part of a multi-skilled team, you will deliver various rail projects within NSW and Australia.

The purpose of this role is to oversee the conversion and design elements of a project, ensuring the delivery of the overall project scope within time, cost, quality, and safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Project Manager/Project Leader to manage client expectations.
  • Manage authorities and utilities interactions across project phases.
  • Develop a design procurement strategy with the Project Leader and Project Engineer.
  • Engage cost planners to develop an overall cost plan and work with them to develop the design within the project budget.
  • Support the PM/PL in developing an overall conversion program, including project issues related to revenue, the client, authorities, design, procurement, and delivery.
  • Identify and understand key risks and opportunities in all aspects of the project to optimise Laing O'Rourke's position.
  • Prepare project client reporting documentation in a PCG format and attend PCG meetings.
  • Ensure all works are completed in accordance with client quality requirements and Australian standards/codes.

About You

  • Degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical) or Construction Management or equivalent, with a focus on delivering projects with multi-stakeholder interfaces.
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in the Rail Signalling sector.
  • Knowledge of Railway Engineering standards & specifications.
  • Knowledge of modern signalling technology.
  • Knowledge of Signalling Principles.
  • Experience in managing teams for delivery phase construction.
  • Understanding of design, problem-solving capabilities, commercial acumen.
  • Ability to communicate on all levels – Directors to operatives and understand the importance of relationships.
