Job Overview

The role of Cleaner in Charge is a pivotal position within our institution, encompassing various responsibilities that require effective leadership and coordination.

This full-time position will commence Term 4, 2025, at Beckenham Primary School, situated on Noongar Whadjuk Boodjar. The school values the cultural diversity within its learning community and strives to maintain an inclusive environment.

Responsibilities

The Cleaner in Charge is accountable for inducting, training, and managing cleaning staff, including relief staff; monitoring and maintaining cleaning equipment; undertaking cleaning tasks of allocated internal and external areas; opening and locking the school, including setting the security alarm system.

The successful candidate will possess exceptional interpersonal skills, enabling them to effectively supervise and coordinate cleaning staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate cleaning staff, ensuring efficient task allocation and optimal team performance.
  • Monitor stock levels, order supplies, and maintain cleaning equipment, adhering to budgetary constraints.
  • Clean allocated internal and external areas, prioritizing high-traffic zones and maintaining a safe environment.
  • Open and close the school, ensuring the security alarm system is activated and deactivated accordingly.
  • Collaborate with school staff to maintain a clean and safe school environment, fostering a culture of mutual respect and cooperation.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Experience in supervising staff; excellent attention to detail; ability to work well with others.
  • Organized, reliable, and punctual, with the capacity to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent knowledge of cleaning equipment and safe cleaning procedures, methods, and practices.
  • Ability to interpret Material Safety Data Sheets, equipment operating instructions, safety instructions, and training guidelines.
Eligibility
  • Obtain a valid Working With Children Check.
  • Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number from the Department of Education's Screening Unit before commencing employment.
  • Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident, or hold a valid visa with relevant work rights for the duration of the appointment.
