Role Overview

This is a Case Officer position where you will be responsible for managing client care needs effectively and efficiently. The role involves assessing care and service requirements, developing and monitoring needs plans, and adjusting those plans as needs change.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage relationships with clients and dependents throughout the case lifecycle.
  • Routinely reassess and adjust services and support based on client needs, documenting rationale for changes to service levels.
  • Maintain accurate information and case management records to support team activities.
  • Prepare correspondence to ensure timely and accurate written advice of matters to clients or their representatives.
  • Liaise with clients and families to obtain information and results, ensuring they are well supported through the process.
  • Identify cases requiring priority action and determination to prevent exacerbation of illness.
  • Monitor and approve invoices for information, tests, or investigations requested, capturing this in case files.
  • Deal with multiple health jurisdictions, hospital/laboratory medical records, privacy, and freedom of information policies and procedures to obtain client medical information.
  • Stay up-to-date with expanding classes of dust diseases and develop understanding of current legislation and medical terminology related to dust diseases.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Highly developed communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and capacity to manage multiple tasks with conflicting deadlines and demands.
  • Critical reasoning skills ensuring high integrity in decision-making processes.
  • Well-developed understanding of people's needs and perspectives in serious illness situations.
  • Established community networks in allied health, community, disability, or social work sectors.
  • Experience dealing with medical information in customer-focused environments.
  • Broad range of experience in similar case officer roles.
