Job Title: State Manager - Community Engagement

We are seeking an experienced and skilled State Manager to join our team in South Australia.

  • This is a key role that requires strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to engage with local communities and build effective relationships with stakeholders.

The successful candidate will have the ability to gather and share location-based intelligence to inform policy and program management activities. They will also be responsible for representing the department in South Australia, building relationships with stakeholders, and providing locational intelligence to inform policy and program management activities.

  • This includes drawing on internal and external relationships to understand and respond to community needs, enhancing service delivery outcomes for government-funded programs in South Australia.
  • Maintaining relationships and connections with respective state/departmental leads of commonwealth agencies across South Australia.
  • Overseeing the department's operations in South Australia, including line management for grant management teams delivering government-funded grants in the region, and staff supporting the management of grants on behalf of government client agencies.

Leading workplace health and safety initiatives in the South Australian Office, including whole-of-office engagement and leading communications across all staff:

  • APS Staff Census engagement activities
  • Reconciliation Action Plan engagement activities
  • Whole of office events that support diversity and inclusion and cohesion

The position is based in South Australia and requires a local presence. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

To be eligible for employment, you must be an Australian citizen. An applicant's suitability for employment will be assessed through a pre-employment screening process.

You must also be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance conducted by the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA). This includes being able to establish your background as checkable, with no gaps or periods of time spent overseas for 12 or more months (cumulative) that cannot be verified by an Australian referee.
