Senior Backend Developer

We are looking for an experienced Backend Software Developer to join our team. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of designing and delivering successful software projects, showcasing architectural and problem-solving skills.

The ideal candidate will have proficiency in the foundU tech stack:Laravel, PHP, MySQL, RESTful APIs, VueJs, React Native, ES6+, Sass.

About the Role:

As a Senior Backend Software Developer at foundU, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and implementing software solutions that drive our business goals forward. Leveraging your expertise, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to create innovative solutions that enhance user experiences, streamline processes, and improve overall system performance.

• Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code while adhering to coding standards and best practices.
• Collaborate with product owners, designers, and other stakeholders to gather and refine technical requirements.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, ensuring timely delivery of solutions.
• Participate in code reviews to provide constructive feedback and ensure code quality across the team.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and drive the adoption of new technologies and tools.
• Mentor and provide guidance to junior developers, fostering their growth and skill development.
• Contribute to technical documentation and knowledge sharing initiatives.
• Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends and recommend their incorporation when relevant.
• Ensure automated test coverage for your tasks.
• Monitor the technical performance of foundU's systems.
• Collaborate and provide feedback on architecture for new features to the Chief Technology Officer, Head of Engineering and Tech Leads.
• Assist the Tech Lead in developing and implementing effective training programs to onboard new team members and ensure ongoing development and growth of existing team members.
• Support the Head of Engineering in fulfilling the responsibilities of the Tech Lead during their extended absence, such as during annual leave.
• Collaborate with wider foundU team, leveraging foundU's technology stack and making localised improvements.
• Drive continuous improvement of team processes and methodologies to ensure consistent delivery of exceptional customer experiences.
• Attend and contribute to all agile ceremonies within the foundU agile playbook.
• Attend regular team meetings and interactions; providing feedback to leaders, escalating issues according to severity.
• Maintain knowledge of the Australian HR, Payroll and Industrial Relations environments.
• Ensure Research and Development timesheets are completed and up to date.

Requirements:

• Proven track record of designing and delivering successful software projects, showcasing architectural and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in the foundU tech stack:Laravel, PHP, MySQL, RESTful APIs, VueJs, React Native, ES6+, Sass.
• Strong understanding of software development principles, design patterns, and best practices.
• Ability to develop unit testing of code components or complete applications.
• Experience with sprint methodologies and a collaborative team-oriented approach.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Knowledge of Australian HR/Payroll is advantageous.
• Demonstrated leadership capabilities and a desire to mentor and elevate team members.
