About the Role

We are seeking a distinguished Professor or Associate Professor with a strong track record in Indigenous Studies to take up the position of Director of the Program within the Faculty of Arts at the University of Melbourne.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the Program, shaping its work and culture to better recognize the perspectives and ways of knowing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
  • Teach and research in the area of Indigenous Studies, contributing to the Faculty's academic excellence.
  • Collaborate with the Head, School of Culture and Communication, and Associate Dean Indigenous to achieve Indigenous objectives and support the Faculty's Divisional Indigenous Development Plan.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance the Program's research and teaching capabilities, aligning with the University's strategic goals.
Requirements
  • PhD in an appropriate field of expertise.
  • Established reputation in Indigenous Studies scholarship, with a strong track record of securing research grants.
  • Excellent teaching and leadership skills, with the ability to initiate course development and manage teams.
