Aboriginal Health Practitioner Role

This role is centered around providing primary healthcare to Aboriginal individuals and their families, with a focus on community health.

The successful applicant must possess strong knowledge of public health principles and be skilled in communicating effectively with clients from diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities
  • Use electronic databases to identify client needs and perform data entry tasks as required.
  • Collaborate closely with clients to address their unique needs and expectations.
  • Conduct screenings and other procedures as requested by medical professionals.
  • Develop chronic disease care plans for clients with complex needs.
  • Provide education on disease prevention, independent living skills, and available support services to clients and their carers.
  • Facilitate access to community health services for clients and their families.
Requirements
  • Be an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander in accordance with Section 50D of the Equal Opportunity Act.
  • Hold current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as an Aboriginal Health Practitioner.
  • Hold a Certificate IV or Diploma in Aboriginal Health.
  • Have a comprehensive understanding of the impact of various health issues on Aboriginal communities.
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Be knowledgeable about holistic approaches to healthcare delivery.
  • Have experience working within multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Be able to maintain confidentiality and security of records and information.
  • Hold current knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Relations, and Equal Employment Opportunity Legislation.
