We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Organic Chemist to join our Environmental Laboratory team at Perth Airport, Australia.

As a Senior Organic Chemist, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing complex analytical testing, ensuring accuracy and high standards in environmental analysis. You will also be responsible for guiding the team to work together effectively and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Performing a range of chemical analysis on water and soil samples using techniques such as GC-MS, GC-FID, and GC P&T.
  • Checking and approving data/results to ensure compliance with NATA and quality requirements.
  • Maintaining instruments and performing calibration and maintenance tasks as required.
  • Training and mentoring new staff members in appropriate methods and instrumentation.
  • Contributing to investigatory and developmental works related to new methods of analysis and method improvement.
  • Assisting in maintaining a safe working environment in the laboratory.

About the Role:

This is a full-time position offering a competitive salary of $120,000 - $150,000 per annum, depending on experience. The successful candidate will be rewarded with opportunities for career growth and development, as well as a chance to work in a dynamic and innovative company.

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualification in Chemistry or a related field.
  • Extensive commercial laboratory experience, preferably in the analysis of Volatile and Semi-Volatile organic compounds.
  • Experience in the operation, optimization, and maintenance of analytical instruments, particularly gas chromatography.
  • Previous management and authorization experience is an advantage.
  • Demonstrated scientific knowledge relevant to organic analytical chemistry.
  • Experience with NATA/ISO 17025 accreditation and requirements for a chemical testing laboratory.
