
Auditor Of Regulatory Compliance Standards

The Chain of Responsibility Auditor will focus on ensuring compliance with the National Heavy Vehicle Regulations (NHVR) across contracted third-party providers.
The role involves developing, maintaining, and executing an internal audit program to assess the compliance of transport providers, distribution centres, and stores with Heavy Vehicle National Law and Chain of Responsibility.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and maintaining an audit program aligned with NHVAS and HVNL requirements.
- Scheduling, prioritising, and conducting audits based on risk and compliance history of transport providers, stores, and distribution centres.
- Preparing clear, evidence-based audit reports identifying non-conformances and recommending corrective actions.
- Training and upskilling the existing audit team in CoR compliance assurance practices, ensuring consistent understanding and application of NHVR requirements across assurance activities.
- Completing audits efficiently, on time, and cost-effectively.
- Adapting to changing business needs and managing multiple engagements.
- Communicating audit findings clearly, following style and reference guidelines.
- Providing training on frequent audit findings and compliance expectations.
- Building strong relationships with third-party transport providers and internal stakeholders to enhance compliance and promote a culture of safety and accountability.
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
- Demonstrated understanding and experience with Chain of Responsibility obligations and NHVR regulatory requirement compliance.
- Exposure to the National Heavy Vehicle Accreditation Scheme, with relevant audit framework viewed favourably.
- Familiarity with internal control concepts, auditing standards, and risk assessment practices.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to make evidence-based decisions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proactive and solutions-focused nature, seeking to understand and help teams problem-solve.
- Ability to drive improvements and meet deadlines.
- Exceptional customer mindset with a passion for collaboration.
- Ability and flexibility to travel nationally and/or to New Zealand, around 1 week per month.
