About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Communications Officer to join our team in Canberra. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the communications field and contribute to the success of our organisation.

In this role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing impactful communication strategies that align with our organisational goals and values. You will lead high-impact campaigns to promote initiatives and amplify our voice nationally.

The successful candidate will have exceptional written and verbal communication skills, experience managing social media platforms and creating engaging digital content. A strong understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and a commitment to advancing their social and emotional wellbeing is also essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Communications: Develop and deliver a comprehensive communications strategy that aligns with our organisational goals and values.
  • Content Creation: Craft compelling content for digital and print channels, including social media, newsletters, press releases, and reports.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Cultivate relationships with key stakeholders, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, media outlets, government agencies, and corporate partners.
  • Media Relations: Manage media inquiries, coordinate interviews, and oversee press coverage to ensure accurate and positive representation of our initiatives.
  • Internal Communications: Develop materials to keep staff informed, engaged, and aligned with organisational priorities.

About You:

  • A demonstrated experience in a communications role, ideally within the not-for-profit or community sector.
  • Experience managing social media platforms and creating engaging digital content.
  • A strong understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and a commitment to advancing their social and emotional wellbeing.
  • A collaborative approach with strong time management skills and the ability to balance multiple priorities.

What We Offer:

  • An estimated salary range of $80,000 - $110,000 per annum.
  • Three days in our Canberra office and two days working from home.
