Your role in this position involves assisting with various tasks related to food preparation, equipment handling and the delivery of meals to patients, caregivers and visitors.

As a key member of the catering team, you will be responsible for communication with the kitchen and ensuring that meal requests are fulfilled in a timely manner. This includes returning to the ward for the collection of meal trolleys after meals have been consumed.

The key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Delivery of patient meals and beverages
  • Providing excellent compassionate service and paying particular attention to the needs of patients
  • Collection of patient meal trolleys from the ward

You will also be required to follow instructions and guidance from Nurse Unit Managers where appropriate and adhere to ward protocols and policies, including infection control guidelines.

Additionally, you will identify and escalate priority issues with the Catering Manager and provide suggestions for improving the meal dining experience based on feedback from patients.

To succeed in this role, you will need to possess strong verbal communication skills and the ability to listen effectively, allowing you to communicate with colleagues and customers with different personality types.

Basic knowledge of all areas of kitchen hygiene is essential, along with a high standard of personal presentation and punctuality.
