Role Summary
We are in search of a Senior Mechanical Project Engineer to join our dynamic Sydney office. This role is vital for providing specialized technical knowledge and leading teams to develop effective solutions for significant water and wastewater initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess client needs, conduct site evaluations, and generate calculations, specifications, and drawings to ensure that technical designs meet project requirements.
- Offer mechanical engineering expertise to support project teams during both design and construction phases.
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee specific projects as the lead mechanical engineer, ensuring timely and budget-conscious delivery of project outputs.
- Manage proposal development, including crafting value propositions, methodologies, fee estimates, and risk assessments.
- Collaborate with Project Managers to establish and maintain budgets, keeping them informed of project timelines and costs.
- Lead project delivery and engage with clients and stakeholders as necessary.
- Organize tender documentation, assess bids, and manage contracts.
- Mentor and supervise junior staff in your area of expertise.
Qualifications
To excel in this role, candidates should possess:
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, along with the ability to obtain CPEng certification.
- 6 to 8 years of experience in mechanical or infrastructure engineering, preferably with a focus on construction (or a minimum of 10 years without construction experience).
- Demonstrated leadership skills, including experience managing subcontractors and multidisciplinary teams.
- Knowledge of water and wastewater services and the associated delivery environment.
- Strong problem-solving and negotiation skills to effectively address disputes.
- A solid understanding of Design & Construct or alternative project delivery methods.
- Excellent report writing skills with the ability to convey compelling narratives.
